Commencement 2014 General Information
FROM: The Office of Academic Affairs
TO: Graduates of 2014
Congratulations on Your Upcoming Graduation,
Let me be the first to acknowledge your graduation and request that you read the following letter thoroughly.
Here at Robert Morris University, Commencement is our biggest day of the year - a true celebration that you will remember the rest of your life. You have begun a process that involves several important steps that are outlined on this page. Please ensure that you complete each step by the respective deadlines.
First, you should have completed your Graduation Application by the deadline date of January 27, 2014 - nothing happens until this form is submitted to Academic Services.
Second, you need to pay the $150 graduation fee. Your graduation fee covers your cap and embroidered gown with RMU signature tag, diploma and cover, graduation announcements, hood (for master's students), the amenities of our Career Services Offices, a two-day Senior Salute, and tickets (for undergraduates; tickets are not required for the graduate ceremony) and souvenir programs to the Commencement ceremony that also includes a family reception with faculty and staff. A President's Aware dinner is provided to those awarded top honors in each of our academic programs and, if you merit academic recognition, you will receive the appropriate cords, sashes, medallions, and stoles. This list goes on.
Third, you should complete the online Josten's Order Form to specify your cap and gown size, announcements, and shipping instructions. If you complete this form by February 16th, you can opt to pick up your graduation materials (at no cost) during the March 31 & April 1 Senior Salute or, for a $12 shipping fee, your packet can be shipped to the address of your choice. After February 16 until March 23, your only option is to have the package shipped; again, for a $12 fee. After March 23, Jostens cannot guarantee delivery of your regalia in time for you to participate in the commencement ceremonies. So PLEASE take this step very seriously. Order both your cap and gown before the deadlines.
Order your regalia by February 16 and opt for pick up at Senior Salute at no cost or, for a $12 fee, ship your packet home.
After February 16 until March 23
Your only option is to have the package shipped; again, for a $12 fee.
Fourth, attend Senior Salute, a special two-day event just for graduates. On March 31 and April 1, from 11am until 7pm, you can stop by the Nicholson Student Center rotunda and confirm that your graduation application is in order, review your diploma information, pick up your regalia, visit with several organizations that are there just for seniors, and maybe purchase a class ring. Senior Salute is the official beginning of the graduation festivities.
Academic Services stands ready to make your graduation day one of the most memorable days of your life. But YOU must do your part. Stop by our office in Patrick Henry 200 or call us at 412-397-6230 if you have any questions. But, please do so before the set deadlines that you see above. We look forward to seeing you at Commencement.
